1966 Ford Mustang Exterior
I originally restored my 1966 Mustang to concourse specifications, but quickly became bored with a plain looking Six Cylinder. The first thing I
decided to do was add a white vinyl top to make it stand out a little more. At first glance, some people thought my Mustang was a convertible, and
one of the magazines made the same mistake in an article. I would like to thank that magazine for increasing the value of my car. I also accented the
Mustang's plain 1966 Hubcaps with stock spinners. The first body modification was adding a pair of 1964 T-Bird Tail Lights which were used on 1968
California Specials and 1968-1970 Shelby's. Soon after, I modified the rear lower valance to make it look like a 1967 GT, and added a 1970 Mustang
Pop-Open Gas Cap a well. Due to the way the exhaust was routed through the valance, I had to get rid of the Bumper Guards. I did not like those anyway.
The first grill I installed was a GT grill with Amber Fog Lights. I later purchased a Billet Grill and modified it to accept Fog Lights to match the
Tri-Bar Head Lights. That was not an easy task to cut into the grill. I brought the Fog Lights inboard slightly, and made them to appear floating.
Lastly, I replaced the stock Amber Parking Lens with 1964 1/2 Mustang white lens with amber bulbs. Its subtle change but effective.
