Ford 200 Six Cylinder Engines

Beginning in late 1965, Ford's Inline Six 200 engine became a standard production engine option for next few years. It looked dimensionally the same except for the color change. It would receive a coat of Ford Corporate Blue over the entire engine block. It was the same colors as the famous Ford Blue Oval. One thing you would notice is that there are five passenger side freeze plugs instead of the three. The engine code was represented by a "T" in the VIN code. The Mustang's 200 engine would now put out about 120 horse power at the crank, and a seven main bearing crank to support it. Ford also went from an adjustable rocker shaft to a non-adjustable rocker shaft. In 1966, Ford introduced the 200 CID engine Sprint Package that helped increase sales of the base model Coupe Mustangs. The Sprint Package also helped celebrate Ford's production of the Millionth Mustang, and a special chrome package was offered. The package included a chrome air cleaner, chrome breather cap, chrome master cylinder lid. Also, wire wheel hubs caps were installed, and the side quarter ornaments were omitted. Unfortunilty, no performance enhancements were added to the Sprint Package. Over the years, the 200 Inline Six would remained relatively unchanged. Until 1967, when the fuel pump canister and air cleaner snorkel were no longer used.
